What The 2023 Acura RDX Is Famous For

Spread the love

The Acura RDX 2023 is a compact premium crossover SUV. Acura fleet have long represented a kind of middle ground between mainstream and luxury vehicles, with a more premium feel than others. The RDX has some appealing features. It’s spacious, comfy, and loaded with features. Continue reading to learn more about its distinguishing qualities.

Performance, Engine & Transmission

Every RDX is powered by a 272-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox and available with front- or all-wheel drive (or “SH-AWD” in Acura-speak). The A-Spec version we tested took 6.2 seconds to reach 60 mph on our test track, putting it in the middle of the pack among small luxury SUVs. At low speeds, the RDX’s throttle is quick, and it pulls away from stoplights with enough zest for most drivers. Downshifting might be faster, especially if the driver employs steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The turbocharged engine makes the RDX sound similar to the NSX, with a high-pitched roar when accelerating quickly, although most of that noise is manufactured and fed into the cabin via the audio system.

Real-World MPG & Fuel Economy

The RDX boasts competitive fuel-economy ratings in the mid-20s, with the front-drive model achieving slightly higher city and highway estimates than the all-wheel-drive vehicle. The former is rated at 22 mpg city and 28 mpg highway; both figures drop by 1 mpg when all-wheel drive is used. The A-Spec package reduces both highway estimates by one mpg, to 27 mpg for the front driver and 26 mpg for the SH-AWD vehicle.

Cargo, Interior & Comfort

The center stack is a tad cluttered on the inside, with a lot of buttons, a touchpad, and a huge rotary drive-mode selection front and center. The version we tested included the A-Spec package’s striking red seats as well as numerous other special features. While the cabin’s outstanding build quality and desired standard amenities (ambient lighting; power-adjustable, heated front seats; dual-zone temperature control) were lauded, the RDX fell short of being luxury.  Nothing seems cheap or flimsy, and the driving position is high enough to satisfy SUV lovers while being versatile enough to satisfy driving fanatics.

Connectivity & Infotainment

Every RDX comes standard with a 10.2-inch touchscreen mounted high on the dashboard. It may also be controlled using the center console’s touchpad. The Acura controller is described as straightforward, although it took us some time to get used to it. The RDX includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot. The optional Technology package includes built-in navigation, USB connections in the back seats, a 12-speaker ELS Studio audio system, and other features.

Driver Assistance & Safety

Every model comes equipped with a slew of driver-assistance features, but the Technology package adds several more. Front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic warning are among the features.
