The Much-Awaited 2023 Dodge Hornet Is Here

Spread the love

The Hornet will be a substitute entrant in the 2023 Dodge lineup. It’s smaller and more economizing than the big Dodge Durango, the Hornet is quick and potent for a compact utility vehicle. The Hornet offers Dodge’s first hybrid powertrain, it’ll also boast the most high-tech outfit in the brand’s lineup, with routine features that involve a digital hand display, Uconnect 5 infotainment software, and automated exigency deceleration with pedestrian and cyclist detection.

Engine, Transmission, & Performance

Hornet GT models are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 265 power and comes paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is voluntary, and Dodge says this powertrain is sound enough to motivate the Hornet to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds. The R/T model is Dodge’s first draw-in hybrid and it’s powered by a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor that simultaneously interfuse for 285 powers.

Instead of the nine-speed automatic from the GT, the R/ T gets a six-speed automatic but still comes routine with all-wheel drive. The powertrain can temporarily boost yield by 25 hp via a point called PowerShot that’s actuated by pulling both paddle shifters. With the PowerShot mode involved, Dodge says the R/ T PHEV can hit 60 mph in 6.1 seconds.

Range, Charging, & Battery Life

The draw-in hybrid R/ T model comes with a 12.0-kWh battery pack that Dodge says is valid for over 30 miles of electric driving per charge. Charging time on a level 2 charger is about two and a half hours.

Fuel Economy

The R/T PHEV model is the most effective and saves fuel more than the other trims.

Interior, Comfort, & Cargo

The cabin is ample for frontal-seat riders and for those in the rear. Interior styling is beautiful with the primary controls and infotainment system slightly cocked toward the motorist and an altitudinous shift switch for the automatic transmission deposited on the center press. Black upholstery with red stitching is routine but the GT Plus and R/ T Plus trims come with leather.

Infotainment & Connectivity

All models come with a 10.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital hand display. The software interface is the rearmost Uconnect 5 system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are routine features, as is Amazon Alexa connectivity. Upgrade to either the GT Plus or R/T Plus swaps in a 14-speaker Harman/Kardon stereo for the routine system and adds a wireless smartphone charging tablet.

Safety Features

A host of Motorist-Backing features are standard on the Hornet, entailing automated exigency deceleration with pedestrian and cyclist discovery. All models also come with eyeless-spot monitoring and parking detectors. The voluntary Tech package adds adaptive voyage control with lane centering, among other features.
