Why The 2023 Ford Ranger Is Prevalent

The 2023 Ford Ranger is a midsize pickup truck available in the Ford Inventory in two body styles: an extended cab (SuperCab) with a 6-foot bed and a crew cab (SuperCrew) with a 5-foot bed. It comes in three trim levels: XL, XLT, and Lariat. All are driven by a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine (270 hp, 310 lb-ft torque) mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission that may drive the rear or all four wheels. Based on its specs and feature list, the Ranger appears to be a competitive vehicle. And its ride quality and interior appear to be current carryovers, something designed specifically to meet the wants of market consumers in a competitive midsize-truck marketplace. Read on to learn more about the ranger.

Performance

The Ranger’s key selling point is its powerful turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine. It doesn’t have the most horsepower in the class, but it’s not bad. As a result, the engine is gutsy and packs a lot of punch when in Sport mode.

The 10-speed automatic is excellent in other Fords, but it is sluggish and slow to downshift in the Ranger’s Normal mode. The steering is excessively light and numb, the suspension is uncomfortable in bumpy corners, and the truck’s nose drops dramatically when stopping suddenly.

Comfort

Some aspects of the Ranger’s ride may turn off potential buyers. Even little road undulations provide springy, bouncing riding movements. This too-soft, underdamped sensation appears to accentuate the magnitude of some bumps you travel over, and more than one of our guests became nauseous. The front seats, on the other hand, are attractively contoured, luxuriously cushioned, and can suit a wide range of body shapes. The rear seat-backs in the crew cab are a touch more upright than we’d like, but they’re still comfortable. Wind, tire, and road noise are all well-controlled.

Interior

The front seats of the Ranger are spacious and simple to enter and exit. The driver’s seat is well-positioned for reaching the truck’s controls and seeing over the hood, although several of our drivers had difficulty finding an optimal reclining posture for the seat.

Technology

We enjoy the majority of what the Ranger has to offer, especially if you choose an XLT or above trim level. These include many USB outlets as well as the Sync 3 infotainment system, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. The Co-Pilot360 package of driving aids, which includes a frontal collision warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a blind-spot warning, is also standard at this level. Voice commands on the Sync 3 system are reliable, and they react to various natural language instructions to access music, radio stations, and certain navigation capabilities.

Storage & Towing

The Ranger has impressive towing and payload capabilities. The bed has six tie-down points, and we like how the central locking mechanism incorporates the tailgate.
