All About The Upcoming 2024 Kia EV9: Complete Preview

Kia is working tirelessly to expand its EV lineup. After announcing its plan to offer 11 new electric vehicles by 2026, the Korean automaker has followed the revelation with actions. First, it launched the EV6, the brand’s first all-electric vehicle built on its Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). Now, the brand has announced that an all-new EV9 SUV will be joining its EV lineup.

Kia Telluride’s three-row SUV has always been one of the best alternatives in its class—a remarkable family SUV. It comes as no surprise that Kia has decided to take cues from this hot-selling three-row SUV and build what will soon be its latest electric vehicle.

Although it’s hard to deny the Telluride influence in the all-new EV9 SUV, this three-row SUV, while taking on the Telluride’s squared-off look, comes with a battery pack and electric motors in place of combustion engines. Kia says that this electric SUV can deliver up to 300 miles of driving range on a single charge. For now, it is still much a concept car, but of course, most other EVs started as a concept before going into production. We expect to see the production version sometime next year as a 2024 model.

Powertrain & Performance

Kia is yet to release information about the EV9’s EV Motor, Power, or Performance when this concept debuted at the Los Angeles auto show with the new Hyundai Ioniq 7 SUV concept. However, as these two electric SUVs utilize the company’s Electric Global Modular Platform, there’s every possibility that they will share similar powertrains.

Hyundai says that its Ioniq 7 will be available in single motor rear-wheel drive and two electric motors all-wheel drive configurations. Hyundai claims that the dual electric all-wheel drive models will deliver up to 308 horsepower.

Should Kia decide to pack the EV9 SUV with a different powertrain, it couldn’t be far from its sib, the EV6’s with 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque.

Range & Charging

While we have no information about the standard battery pack size or the larger battery pack size in the upcoming 2024 EV9, Kia says that the EV9 SUV will deliver a driving range of up to 300 miles on a single charge.

Kia also claims that this electric three-row SUV supports an ultra-fast charging technology that features a 350-kW fast charging, recharging the battery pack from 10 to 80% in about 20 to 30 minutes. We will definitely find more information about the battery pack size of this EV before it goes on sale.

Interior, Cargo

Inside, the 2024 EV9 will likely seat up to seven and sport an eco-friendly interior with minimalist styling and futuristic design. Just as the concept features a 27-inch ultra-wide display, Kia has confirmed that the production version of the EV9 will also sport the same 27-inch ultra-wide display that combines a traditional instrument panel and an infotainment system. The concept’s interior also boasts a large panoramic sunroof, zero analog controls, and touch-operated digital controls integrated into the dash.

Kia hasn’t released much information about the concept or the production version. We will keep you updated when more information becomes available.
