Say Hello To The Hot 2022 Jaguar I-Pace: Full Review

Like everybody else, the British automaker, Jaguar is ditching internal combustion engines and embracing cars’ electrification. In fact, it stands as one of the first luxury brands to offer an all-electric model. However, since 2019 when the brand introduced its first EV, the I-Pace still remains its lone EV.

The I-Pace is a remarkable electric SUV that stands out from the crowd, thanks to its low-slung designs, sleek styling, sporty driving dynamics, luxurious interior elements, and usable battery range. In the wake of its debut, it rattled some of the best EVs available in its segment.

To keep its single EV model competitive in the growing segment, Jag has given the I-Pace a mild refresh for 2022. From a first glance, it doesn’t look like much has changed, but the newly updated Infotainment software that now sports the Jaguar’s latest Pivi Pro system, improved onboard charger to reduce charging time, and new wireless charging pad all count as changes in the 2022 I-Pace. Jaguar has also reduced the trim levels of the 2022 I-Pace to one—the HSE spec.

Powertrain & Performance

Powering the 2022 I-Pace are two electric motors, one on each axle, that combines to generate 394 horsepower and 512 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain delivers enough power and peppy acceleration to keep this luxury electric SUV going, whether while cruising in the city or zipping through the highway.

The I-Pace is undoubtedly a fun-to-drive electric SUV. Thanks to its standard air suspension and responsive steering, this Jag’s model delivers a comfortable ride. Its large battery pack under the floor gives it an extra dose of agility.

Fuel Economy

The EPA estimates the 2022 I-Pace to earn 80 MPGe in the city, 72 MPGe on the highway, and 76 MPGe combined. It may not be the best figures you can get in the class, but these ratings are okay for a luxury electric SUV.

Range & Charging

The 2022 I-Pace still carries over the 90.0-kWh battery pack that delivers an EPA estimated range of 253 miles per charge.

Unlike the previous model with a 7.0-kW onboard charger, the 2022 I-Pace sports an 11.0-kW onboard charger. Instead of waiting for 13 hours like last year, you can now recharge your I-Pace at home within 8.6 hours. The Jag still supports DC fast-charging that recharges the battery to 80% in less than 40 minutes.

Interior, Cargo

An attractive and sophisticated interior complements the stylish and sleek I-Pace’s exterior with a tech-rich cabin, intuitive controls, and ample passenger space. This Jag sports a flashy dash decorated with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen that runs on the Jaguar’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment system. And as you might expect, this Jag’s sole EV is outfitted with many desirable features, including heated front and rear seats, four-zone climate control, and so much more. Cargo space is decent as well.

Safety

Jaguar stacked the I-Pace with a long list of active safety features and driver assists, including;

  • Automated Emergency Braking
  • Automatic High-Beams
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Blind-Spot Monitoring
  • Forward-Collision Warning And
  • Lane-Departure Warning And Lane-Keeping Assist
